Diaries; 10th – 14th October, 1914.

Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th October: Villers

Nothing doing.

Monday 12th October: Villers

We had a little excitement today; a few shells dropped about 20 yards off our billet doing no damage except to wound a horse otherwise quiet.

Tuesday 13th October: Villers

Nothing doing.

Wednesday 14th October: Villers

There is some move on today but don’t know what it is so went off to sleep at 8pm.

Awakened at 9.30pm we have to pack up and move off at once. Moved off at 11pm marching on all night and as we moved off the rain started. We had some steep hills at the start to climb and help the wagons up.
