Saturday 27th March: Neuve Chapelle
Things are quiet here today and we are still on duty at the Grand Trunk. I had a walk up through Neuve Chapelle and found it lively there.
We had three runs to Bethune which took us till 1 am in the morning to get finished as it is 10 miles each way. One man was wounded taking rations up by the railway.
Sunday 28th March: Neuve Chapelle
We were relieved by another car at 10 am. I remained on duty as orderly for another day but was relieved at night.
A few shells dropped on the road in the afternoon, one just outside our billet killing 3 Indians and taking both legs of an Officer who was in charge of them. He was a brave Officer; we did our best for them all.
Monday 29th March: La Coutre/ Neuve Chapelle
We went up to Neuve Chapelle from La Coutre and brought away the wounded and sick. A few shells dropped on the road and we had to come back by another road. We are having very cold weather just now
Tuesday 30th March: La Coutre/ Neuve Chapelle
We went again up to Neuve Chapelle from la Coutre at 9 am and brought away the wounded and sick and took them to Bethune. Back at La Coutre at 12 mid-day when 3 coalboxes dropped in the village. One in a billet 50 yards from ours, it was occupied by the artillery. It killed 2 and wounded 4 of them.
Wednesday 31st March: La Coutre/ Richebourg-St.- Vast/ Neuve Chapelle
After going to Richebourg-St.- Vast and Neuve Chapelle and bringing the wounded and sick back from both places to Bethune we were relieved at 12 mid-day by three of the other cars of our Ambulance. We went back to Bethune to our Hospital there for duty. There is very little to do here, we are just resting, but holding ourselves in readiness in case we are wanted.
